The Lone Wolf Band of Cherokee Indians

Indiana's Cherokee People

WHO ARE WE.....

We are Cherokee people who have lived in Indiana most if not all of our lives. Our ancestors came from the Great Lakes in the 1400's and traveled as far south as Georgia and then the Kentucky and Tennessee mountains during what we believe was two or possible three different times later in our history between the 1700 and 1800's. Then somewhere prior to the “Trail of Tears” and upto the great depression our people came to Indiana. The Lone Wolf Band of Cherokee Indians are the decedents of these people.

The Lone Wolf Band of Cherokee Indians began in 1992 as the Lone Wolf United Indian Tribal Association, located in South Bend, Indiana, and comprised of Cherokee people in the St. Joseph and Marshal County areas. Then in 1998 we began our major development, incorporated and began to grow to encompass several counties in Northern Indiana Today the Lone Wolf Cherokee of Indiana has members throughout Indiana as well as Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and most of those people have organized or beginning to organize into their own clans of our Band. In time we hope to have all the Cherokee people of Indian with us.

This site was designed to introduce you to the Cherokee Indians of Indiana and shed some knowledge about us and how we came to be in Indiana. We will continue to add information as we go, in hopes of making this site one of the most educational Cherokee sites on the Internet.
