The Lone Wolf Band of Cherokee Indians
Indiana's Cherokee people.

MEMBERSHIP

Would you like to become a member of the Lone Wolf Band of Cherokees?
First...YOU MUST BE PROUD OF THE BLOOD THAT RUNS THROUGH YOUR VEINS. BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE AND RESPECT YOUR ANCESTORS FOR WHO THEY WERE.

It is not a requirement that you should live in or near the State of Indiana, it is just simply advantageous to the members as far as meetings and social gatherings. You must have some degree of Cherokee blood but since we are not federally recognized we do not require any certain quantum or government documentation. You will be advised as to what you will be required to supply when you apply.

You MUST be interested in your heritage and in learning the ways of our ancestors. We are ONLY looking for good people who wish to honor their heritage, to learn, to share knowledge, to teach and in whatever degree you wish - return to the Way, the White Road. We are not looking for someone just wanting to join a club or historical re-enactment organization. We are neither.

We are not looking for people who want to be an instant Indian. We have no power to make you an instant Indian and we have no ceremonies, no potions, no magic to turn you into anything, so don’t ask. We are not looking for people with Indian blood, who only want to be called an Indian, and really does not have the time or care to be otherwise involved. You must want to be who you are and be proud all the time...not just when it suits you. We are not looking for warriors on the constant warpath, who overnight want to change the hundred years of wrong done to the American Indians.

We are not here to help anyone get any federal assistance for any established Native Americans government programs. We are not the people in need of these monies or funding, such as some of our brothers and sisters on reservations. They are the ones who are more needy and deserve it...not us.

You must be willing to participate in tribal functions...at least, as much as you can, if you can. We are not here to establish a way for anyone to get a title just to collect federal monies for Indians.

We do not charge membership fees to join and our membership card entitles you to absolutely nothing nor does it identify you as anything other that a member of our Band. It is not a license to be a Native American and is in no way designed to be construed as proof of your Native American ancestry.

If you feel you meet the standards we are looking for and you want to join, simply contact one of our members, or a Council Member in your area or contact our office or e-mail us and we will give you the information you need.

Our Council Meetings.
Both our General and Clan Council meetings are open to all members with exception to an Executive Meeting, which is a “closed door meeting.”
The General Council meetings are held on the last Sunday of each month. The General Council meetings are usually followed by a social gathering.
During the pow wow season some General Council meetings take place at the pow wows. The Southern Clan Council meeting is held the second Sunday of each month. Times, locations or any changes will be announced
