and spoken Japanese language."

The students' site of Politecnico
di Torino in Italy. They have several directories in which contain
Japanese resources. Among them, PC
Word processors, docs
, fonts,
and more. This is available both by WWW
and FTP. Warning:
They don't have many resources, 40 is the maximum number of anonymous users
users that they can at any one time, and probably many of those should
be the students. When I looked at their site, downloading from both
FTP and WWW (I find FTP usually faster) was VERY SLOW! (FTP downloads
through a 56k modem on the order of .33KB/s) If you find this
is the case you should think about quitting your download, giving the students
access, and trying again at a different, less busy, time.

SLOW! Works only with Web based documents accessible through a URL.
Shodouka Launchad works by converting all the Japanese characters into
graphics. Be patient, pages can be extremely slow, and updating a
page does not appear possible.

Mview 4.0 A program
by Albert Chong that allows you to display Japanese characters in any version
of Windows (3.1/3.11/95/98/NT). It's prone to crash, but it's not
fatal. The only thing is that you need to do is quit the program
that caused it to crash (usually Netscape displaying some complex page)
and Mview before starting them both again. It will display Japanese
in ANY windows program, and correctly displays window titles in Japanese.
(Something adding a True Type Font does NOT accomplish, unless you change
your font selection in Properties/Appearance for your desktop). No installation,
to use it, just run it. ---Update---
I just discovered Albert's
web page, and his MView
web page, and also found 2 email addresses for him LuckyChong@poboxes.com
and Albert_Chong@hotmail.com. Apparently his Mview is up to version
4.58. You can also find this program on shareware.com.
Here is a search
for it. Also, Mview apparently allows
printing of Japanese characters without any problem.

MSGOTHIC
a True type Japanese font supposedly from Microsoft. I ZIPped it
with the little email that came along with it. To use it, do the
following: After unZIPping it: run the executable file, then in Netscape
select Edit-Preferences from the menu. Select Appearance-Fonts
from the Category area in the dialog box. Choose Japanese encoding.
Select the font MSGOTHIC for both variable and fixed widths. Click
on OK. Then select View-Encoding-Japanese (Auto-Detect).
You should be able to display Japanese in Netscape now! The only drawback
is that the window titles still appear in garbage. You need a program
like Mview for that. You may find that some pages and/or email
messages will now inadvertently show Japanese Characters, this is not fatal
or hard to change. Simply select View-Encoding-Western, and that's
it! The major problem with MSGOTHIC is that it doesn't seem to like
my printer very well..
